The #Dumsormuststop Vigil

The celebrity Dumsor walk which was held on the May 15th 2015 saw a lot of Ghanaians including celebrities walk to fight against the ongoing power shortage in the country. The people however believed that it was time they took to the streets because that was the only language they believed the government understood.
Yvonne Nelson, ace actress and model led the delegation together with XO senavoe. Celebrities that graced the walk were El, Afia Shwarznegger, David Oscar ,Efya Awindor amongst others. The walk took of at the old Legon gate through to Okponglo, down to Shiashie and finally ended at the forecourt of the Accra Shopping Mall. Many thought the turnout for this particular event wouldn't be one to be amazed about and had doubts that the celebrities could actually gather enough people for the demonstration. However, going contrary to speculation and initial skepticism about the usefulness of the vigil, turnout was massive and cars were kept still for close to an hour, police cars also lined the route and ensured  that the walk was peaceful.
Many Ghanaians (majority being the youth) graced the occasion wearing shades of black and a few pieces of red, carrying in varying degrees tools of Dumsor: from a measly candle, through to traditional torches, generators, bicycles, guitars, and generally holding placards reading inscriptions such as NATIONAL DUMSOR CORPORATION -NDC, DUMSOR MUST STOP IN JESUS NAME, JON DON'T BE JOHN, etc.
A few NDC faithfuls also joined in the cause, in the customary black shirts with MAHAMA WILL FIX DUMSOR, JM WILL SUCCEED, DUMSOR WILL STOP, etc.
There were songs, mostly jama and chants.
The atmosphere was charged and the people finally made their message to their leaders loud, clear and peaceful.
