hyperActive (HA): The Frenchmen. What's it about?
The Frenchmen: The Frenchmen or preferably "TH'FRVNCHMVN", is a band which is managed by Villa Direct.
HA: A band? Consisting of?
The Frenchmen: We are made of 3 rap artistes and a spoken word / melody rap artiste.
HA: Who are they?
The Frenchmen: We have Bryan Mensah also known as Denny, Justin Owusu-Banahene known as N.O, Martin Peprah known as M.A.R.S and finally, the spoken word expert Nelson Fiifi Aikins known as Nelson Da Poet.
HA: Is there any affiliations with the AGE Company or AGE Music as we all knew?
The Frenchmen: Yes there are
HA: Can we say AGE Music is now TH'FRVNCHMVN?
The Frenchmen: AGE music is now... Non existent. But Villa Direct Ghana is actually a re brand of the entire AGE company.
HA: Therefore The Frenchmen is....?
The Frenchmen: A band, which is managed by Villa Direct.
HA: And Villa Direct is a...?
The Frenchmen: A management and creative advertising firm. It's pretty much AGE but with newer & much more powerfully fuelled up objectives.
HA: A little bird told hyperActive The FRVNCHMVN is out with a "hot" single.
The Frenchmen: The little bird was right (laughs)
HA: To those who haven't heard it, what is the title of this single?
The Frenchmen: "We French". Actually its two, "We French" and "The Fella's Kuti".
HA: Why the title We French? You people want to change your nationality or something? Just kidding. But on the more serious note, upon all the countries, why "We French"?
The Frenchmen: We just wanted to express how sophisticated we are. Because we believe nothing is ever simple.
HA: Who and who were on this single?
The Frenchmen: The four of us all in the band.
HA: And 'The Fella's Kuti' ? I don't want to think he's also French. Why that title?
The Frenchmen: It was a way of paying respect to the late Fela Kuti,the King of Afro Pop and also showing everyone the source of the inspiration for the album we're planning.
HA: That one was by who?
The Frenchmen: Just Denny. It's the album's intro.
HA: Album? Tell us about it.
The Frenchmen: We have our album coming before the year ends. its called "2.0". This 2.0 album is our debut album.And another one coming next year.
HA: Quick action, that's cool. Anything apart from its being called "2.0"?
The Frenchmen: It was inspired by Fela Kuti. There are actually 10 tracks on it. But we rather keep you all in suspense, so that's all we can give for now. We want to surprise the PEOPLE.
HA: What kind of music is the FRVNCHMVN band into?
The Frenchmen: Hip-Hop, R&B, little Afrobeats, in summary, we'll call it 'new' music. Since we have rappers, singers and spoken word artiste. We take all these contemporary genres and we make it sound like something you've not heard before.
HA: Moving to Villa Direct. Do you plan on getting more people on the Villa Direct record and if yes how does on join?
The Frenchmen: Actually Villa direct is not a record label, so no. Villa Direct's main business stream is going to revolve around Event Marketing hence the name.
HA: We all know you people are in school, so how do you people mix school with the music? Any difficulties?
The Frenchmen: Not really, we usually balance the two. We do the music during our most free. Focused time actually.
HA: Since you people are not in one school, dont you struggle recording?
The Frenchmen: Nope. We always find a way, we are very strict on Organization. and we don't joke with those because we work under a management.
